CHARACTER
Name: Sonic T Hedgehog
Canon: Sonic the Hedgehog!
Canon point: In between forces and frontiers
Age: 16
Summary:
Born on Christmas island with the ability to run at super speeds, Sonic the Hedgehog is a guy who values freedom and hates fascists. Hearing of the evil Doctor Eggman (then Robotnik)'s schemes to expand his empire from South Island, he rushed headfirst into danger to topple the Doctor's schemes and save the world.
This pattern went on for like, a while. Eggman tried building robotic duplicates of Sonic, nabbing an all powerful gem from a floating island to power his death star adjacent space station, kidnapping teleporting birds, awakening gods of destruction, using a satelliite cannon to threaten the government...you name it! Each and every time, Sonic's put his life on the line to uphold every living being's right to live freely.
Sonic is very much someone defined by his strong sense of justice, but his ability to form bonds with others, especially with enemies, is his other most prominent trait. Be it adopting the young fox Tails as his younger brother, winning the affection of fellow hedgehog Amy Rose after rescuing her, or even turning once enemies Knuckles the Echidna and Shadow the hedgehog into begruding rival-frienemies after he helped them out despite their attempts on his life, Sonic's natural charisma combined with his willingness to put everything aside to help those who need it makes him a magnet for people who just need a friend.
Loves friends, enjoys freedom, hates aspiring dictators, Sonic puts it best himself.
"What you see is what you get! I'm just a guy that loves adventure, Sonic the Hedgehog!"
Powers/abilities:
Boy, okay. Before we get to even the super speed, there's some things to tackle.
First up, Sonic is highly athletic and a skilled fighter. His parkour and combat skills are the result of him living his incredibly dangerous lifestyle of fighting off monsters and robots, most often utilizing his own personal unorthodox style - people could probably tell he isn't formally trained, but not in a way that makes him unskilled or sloppy - that involves mixing high speed movements with primarily kicks, occasional punches and spindashes.
What's a spindash? It's a technique of Sonic's that lets him curl up into a ball and roll around - it has a defensive use in that he's "safer" in this position and it lets him more easily take impacts (like falls or hits) that would hurt him otherwise, a means of revving up to shoot off at high speed or deal damage. It can be used to ram into things and deal blunt force damage or he can become a cutting disc that is capable of shredding robots in half. He can also use it to burrow. If in midair, he can also use his speed to "home in" on targets to strike them forcefully, aptly named the homing attack.
Despite preferring his own personal fighting style, he was taught martial arts from a man in China named Shuifon who named him the true successor to his personal Linshao style, although he's never been seen using it. He was also trained in swordsmanship by the sword caliburn and managed to defeat Percival, Gawain, Lancelot and King Arthur. Like, the actual literal guys.
Sonic's athleticism should make his proficiency at sports no surprise; he can skateboard, snowboard, hoverboard, surf and breakdance with the best of them. He's also a very proficient driver of his own car during an intergalactic grand prix.
He can control the durability and texture of his quills; when he's relaxed they're apparently very soft and bushy, but when necessary he can harden them for attacking. He's also superhumanly durable, as he got knocked away by an enormous monster, crashed through several building sized stone towers, crashed into a mountain...and he only needed a few minutes to stand back up and move on.
His quills also sense danger, somehow, because he remarks they're "quivering" during secret rings right before...well, danger!
With that out of the way...the speed! Everyone knows Sonic and speed go hand in hand. The cap varies wildly; sometimes it's mach 1, sometimes it's mach 5, sometimes it's lightspeed...one time it was even beyond light speed! SEGA have said sonic goes "as fast as he needs to" which like...that's obviously absurd, so I'm going to basically cap this as "as fast as he's allowed to go depending on the circumstances". If he really needs to push his speed I'll just ask all involved parties if it's okay if he does [absurd speed thing] and where he can't, well, he just won't be fast enough! That's probably gonna be easier for plotting than deciding on a literal speed cap, but if you guys want a hard cap that's cool with me. I should clarify I have no intention of him reaching anything as stupid as lightspeed or beyond i swear
It doesn't end there though, as Sonic is capable of going even faster using his boost ability. It's an ability that gives him a short but incredible burst of speed (that must recharge as of frontiers, which I think is the best way to implement in RP with a "cooldown") and wraps him in a blue aura. This basically turns him into a speeding freight train, wherein everything in his way is either knocked aside or completely destroyed. He's also able to use his speed to heal his injuries by vibrating his molecules, but I'm gonna say that the more he uses it the less effective it'll be as it'll tire him out through extended use. He'll basically get diminshing returns if he uses it too frequently.
Lastly, perhaps most importantly, is his willpower. Sonic's strong will has allowed him to resist being turned to evil after getting corrupted by the primordial embodiment of evil, but even in a less superpower-y way...he won't ever give up, no matter what happens. You can throw whatever you want at him, but so long as he can still move, he won't stop moving.
Inventory: Nothing but the clothes on his back!...okay they're gloves and shoes. Not literal back.

OTHER
Sentimental item: Sonic will possess a (deactivated) dummy bomb made my Tails, that looks like one of the many gold rings that exist in Sonic's world. Tails is Sonic's best, oldest friend and his brother in every sense of the word except by blood.
Gemstone: Yellow (primary) and red (secondary). Shaped like a chaos emerald from canon, only small enough to fit into the palm of his hand.
Lost memory #1: Sonic will be forgetting Tails the Fox, arguably his oldest but definitely his best friend. It means that he'll think when he went on all of his adventures post Sonic CD, he did so without his best buddy at his side. This combined with his second lost memory will make him not exactly feel more lonely, but it will make him feel like he lives a more solitary life than he actually did in canon.
Lost memory #2: Speaking of, he'll also forget his second ever friend Knuckles the Echidna. As a consequence of this, there'll be weird gaps in his memory of the angel island incident where he remembers flying there but not the one doing the flying, as well as thinking the emeralds and the island itself was abandoned. Of course it'll also have the same effect as above, wherein he'll feel like all his adventures were just a bit more solitary than canon, as tails and knuckles are the two people he hangs out with most of the canon cast.
Altered memory: Sonic is going to think that he and Dr.Eggman used to be best friends, but after the Doctor turned to evil he felt betrayed and abandoned by the guy for going the way of the aspiring fascist. Of course, this means he's more determined to convince Eggman to change sides and be friends like they used to be rather than just wanting to stop him from plotting his schemes wherever he goes. He'll be a bit softer about the idea of the guy when it comes up rather than just calling him like 4 or 5 egg themed insults and calling it a day.
Sample: TDM top level and One more for good measure
